HUGE CATACLYSMIC News...goose

This Month’s Newsgoose is absolutely choca-block of achievements, promotions, new competitions… well the list is endless so to the monthly delight of updating you with what on earth is going on in guild! There’s new pages incoming (Mongoose Train, PVPgooses… etc), and old pages updated.

Well, firstly, I would like to comment on how strong the guild is at the moment; we’re recruiting new Peons left, right and center. Mongooses are even persuading friends to change servers to come join us. Yeah, we rock baby! And apart from that, the amount of mats people are giving to one another, the amount of items people are donating to the guild bank, the norms people go to instead of heroics for another guildie and the general spirit of guild chat and ventrilo is just awe inspiring. We have come a long way and there are many people to thank for that; Shell for setting up the guild, Menhit, Aradia, Terra and Doof, our beloved Nobles. And of course you guys! You stick together through thick and thin and I am very proud of you all!

Right enough of that emotional rubbish onto bigger and better things! Well, maybe not so big right now but we should start off by saying CONGRATULATIONS to Thindra and Zarrak, who had a baby boy a couple of days ago. Well done guys and we all wish you the very best! I would also like to congratulate and thank Niennea, who heroically has taken up the mantle of Banking minion alongside her artistic duties and has thus been promoted to Militia.

After a conversation between Terracon and myself, we both decided that Doof’s promotion to co-head of Raiding was long overdue because of his hard work and commitment get Raidin’goose back off the ground. Well done buddy.

But when you thought this promotion bonanza was over, I would like to say that we induct another Mongoose into the ranks of Knighthoodship for his dedication to guild, putting others before himself, and generally being acknowledged for embodying everything a Mongoose should want to be.

I, Rhaid, declare Alaunus ad Knight of the Realm!

On behalf of Aradia, and therefore the rest of the guild, a special mention must be made to Arai, who, after sharing his previous bad experiences with other guild banks, has donated over 17 stacks of herbs. And another thanks must go to Jorien, who has stepped in to filled Shell’s shoes whilst she is unwell to lead us to PVP glory. Thank you to you both!

Also this month, lost, wayward mongooses have returned to the fold and seen the light. We welcome, back home, Sweaze and Stavron, who have brought their mains and their alts back into the family. Woot!

So onto the interesting stuff; achievements of course! I would like to congratulate a whole host of people for taking part in the critter killing massacre of 2011. It was a great fun farming that little tunnel. But never fear, at some point we will return and get the next rank of critter killing. However, for those less able to stomach the killing of cute little bunnies and roaches, click for a little guide on where to /love them. It’s only small, but it’s a start. So where do we go from here achievementwise? Well we’ve started making a start on the Burning Crusade Heroics, only to find that we’re limited to 5 an hour. But this won’t stop we determined folks; keep an eye out on the in game calendar for my BC HC sessions, and shortly following that, Vanilla instances. Easy Peasy!

But, looking at achievements that will get us thing, a few of us officers are going to start little fishing parties. What? A party involving fish? How could that work? Well fishing from any pool counts towards the achievement and we are currently 7.5k away from getting the important fish feast equivalent recipe. Anyone who takes part in these parties should be receiving a badge (presuming I can get it work) on site as they will the critter one (when I find the list). But this is defiantly something we will be aiming to get over the next month or so, so keep an eye on your guild calendar!

foodz!Imagine we’re in November, and Cata hasn’t been released, only a few days away. Remember there was a competition.  A cooking one, yes that was it. Hold the idea of November, and cooking in your mind at the same time. With that in mind, I am pleased to announce the winner of November’s Pilgrim’s Contest competition is Alaunus! Click on the pictures to see the menu that the three participants managed to make! Yum, I’m hungry just looking at them. Well, now that competition is out of the way, it’s been a Lovely pink marshmellow cakelong time since anything competition happened around here (>_> <_< >_>) that we’ve come up with another spectacular competition themed around the ‘Love is in the Air’ Seasonal. So watch this space for more details. But we hear rumors don’t we? Of an unknown, unofficial competition, with some sort of awesome prize. It’s only a rumor, only a rumor…

Raids, get your raids here! Raidin’goose and Raidin’goosette are about to go live!

What’s that all about I hear you cry?! Goose and Goosette? Raiding? Huh? Well simply put we’ve renamed our old progression team and the alts and newbs run to sound more awesome. Because Mongooses are awesome. Gooosette is your bog standard come and have fun raiding with me and Grimmy; designed for anyone who doesn’t want to, or can’t, commit to raiding or lacks the experience. Doesn’t have a lot of requirements and you do not have to apply. To accent that, run by your hosts Terra and Doof, Raidin’goose is now open for applications, looking to raid by Febuary 7th! Click here for more information and how to apply!

Now, onto something a little more serious. Menhit brought it to the officers that recruitment needs to be changed, updated and made more applicable to our guild. We had two weeks at peon and then you were promoted. Only problem with that was that if you sat silently in guild, then you’d be promoted, no questions asked. Or a new Peon would put people off, but they’d be too worried to say anything to anyone and people would have doubts that would not be heard. To rectify this problem we’re trialing a new method of passing your trial. Peer Feedback. It’s fairly simple. A Peon is invited to the guild. Yeomen, and even other Peons can feedback positive, or negative experiences to Menhit via in game mail OR forum in game mail. When there is something that impresses, they are brought into the fold as a fully fledged mongoose! Of course there are a minimum and a maximum guideline about when promotions can take place, but more information about this process is here in the charter. We’re hoping that you will get involved and have a say about the mongooses that are coming into our social network!

Well, apart from a few things we’re hiding up our sleeve (there are rumors, I swear), that’s all for now. I want to thank everyone who has taken the strain whilst I’ve been preoccupied, and I want to thank everyone who has pushed events, taken part in things and single handedly completed guild achievements. There are too many people to mention and so little room.

My parting words, my thought of the month is this;

Watch this space, because the Mongooses are moving forward. MONGOOSES! WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION?!!

Grats to everyone! I've been very impressed with the guild since I joined. Can almost forgive you all for kicking our collective bums in Halaa when we did a Spice Weasel versus Mongoose PvP event! Laughing out loud

Gooosette is a wonderful idea. I've went from being an officer and main tank who used to encourage quiet members to come do heroics with us, to a very unsure dps who's been away from instances for so long that I've lost the confidence I used to have. So being a Gooosette sounds like just the thing for me.
