Quitting WoW

Dear Mongooses,

It is with a heavy heart (I'm actually getting emotional and want to cry) that I am writing this. I have made the decision to quit Wow completely. It has been something that has been on my mind for about a year or more, and Cataclysm/Life have kind of confirmed the feeling that I no longer want to play.

It's a mixture of things. WoW - Raiding, Pvp, Achievements aren't really holding my attention and new raiding/instances are repeats of previous fights that I once enjoyed but now no longer care for. Coupled with the lack of regular sign ups (mostly my own fault) to events/pvp/raiding I'm not really getting the social of WoW any more since we're continually PuGing (PuGing = crap). In short, the game itself isn't holding my attention game play wise, and I am missing the interaction with you all.

Life - As expected new job + college work + family = very little time to play a game seriously as I once did, let alone run a guild (even as chairperson).

It has been an interesting experience both joining, officering and eventually leading this guild and I have loved being apart of Mongoose awesomeness. I am so proud of everythign that we managed ot achieve together, from camping awesomeness to events and competitions. I will greatly miss a great many of you, from the Officers, Knights and Yeomen, but I will especally miss those of you who frequented ventrilo at night with us (you know who you are!). Thank you for the friendship and the memories - they mean more than I can say. Getting to know you, even virtually, you all feel like an extended family I don't want to leave and say goodbye to.

This has been a very hard decision for me to take, mostly because of you guys. Good luck to all of you in the future - happy trails and happy gaming. But on the whole, I neither have the time to play, nor the inclincation to get online to play WoW. I'm going to miss you gusy so much.

I can't say goodbye so another game, another life perhaps?

Volly/Rhaid

I will also say my goodbyes now Sad it has been great fun playing with you guys, just wish my heart was still in the game...unfortunately this is no longer the case.

On points when only having the time to raid once a month (if that) seems like a waste of money atm, will deffo come back one day & hope to catch up with you all then.

I bid you both a very saddened fairwell. A massive loss to the guild but cant honestly say im surprised. Has been a massive change in the game the last 6 months and it just doesnt feel like it used to. Even the guild is alot quieter now than used to be.

All the best and i hope it isnt forever,

Farra

It is not a feeling that is limited to you, hun.

I understand your choice completely, that is coming from someone who frantically looks for some spare time to log in, even after having bought a brand new computer.
The moments I do have spare time, I tend to spend in other, less demanding games for now.

When a guild consists out of players who for the most part all started playing the game (not necessarily together from the first moment) at around the same time this is something that can happen.

Lives do change, priorities change, but most of all, most of our Gooses have seen this game in and out. Both the weariness, the feeling of having accomplished certain goals and the fact that the game has unmistakenly changed a hell of a lot, means that perhaps it is time to put off those WoW tinted goggles and look at things from a different perspective.

A leaked PP presentation showed that Blizzard lost no less than 600 000 subscriptions in the first 6 months of this year, the feeling and effect is certainly not only seen and experienced in the Mongooses.
The truth is, the old garde is turning in their Warcraft badges and looks at the horizon for a new chapter in their lives.
In two months I will be one step closer to the dreaded 30 years old, I have one year left to enjoy my 20s, when I look back I realise that since my early mid twenties I've been playing this game, a testament to the quality which was able to captivate me and many others for all those years.
I'm sure, many others feel the same way.
It's been one hell of a ride, but at some point you'll have to admit to yourself that that ride no longer caters for you as it once did.
I'm also at this point, I pay a monthly subscription fee for something which I either don't have the time for, or when I do, I lack some interest for.
Nonetheless I will hang on for a little while longer my subscription runs till november anyway, there still is time to see where life and Warcraft may bring me.

At this point for many people in Warcraft it's mainly the built up friendships ingame that keeps someone from staying away, something that can easily be solved out of the game as well.
So many multiple social platforms can be used to keep in touch with people who in one way or another made your Warcraft experience to what it is. Sometimes even changed your life outside the game as well.

I count myself lucky that I'm of the last generation who saw it all change first hand, from 56k modem online Counter-Strike Beta with 600 ms to state of the art 25-man raids with mindblowing graphics and 25ms.
But the one thing I am very grateful of, is the fact that the internet made me meet people in places around the world I would never met otherwise. To say it blunt, people whom's existence I neither knew or cared for.
It's that very thing that, for all it's goryness and filth one encounters on a daily basis, the internet is perhaps the most influential "piece of technology" of our time and should be praised for, for that simple reason.

Therefor I'd want to conclude by saying, don't be a stranger outside the game, hun. I'm to be found on many social platforms, from Facebook to Steam, toss me a moo, a scream, or even a simple hello whenever you feel like it.
That also goes out to all the others, it's not because I'm not in the game itself that I don't care about you peeps nor that I don't want to have anything to do with you, it just means I'm probably galavanting outside in Real Life or surfing the high waves of the internet in some other way Smile.

I admit, I am starting to feel very similar. WoW just doesn't have the charm and awesomeness it used to. I wouldn't say it is dying, but I would say it has a life threatening illness that *could* be cured. I myself am starting to look for greener pastures. These will likely be found within Guild wars 2 ( which will be free aside from the initial purchase, and looks Amazing!)

Of course, thanks to these recent developments, it feels like it is my responsibility to stay on. Thanks, Volly...

I really love this guild, and it pains me to see it in such a low point.. But I will try my best to keep it going...
